Kill Shot Shoot-Out 2026 launched!

ree

The seventh edition of the popular Kill Shot Shoot-Out will take place on January 10th and 11th next at Kingscourt HC and online entry is now live!

Due to demand, the organisers split the competition into two separate events for the last three years and the same format will follow for the next event.

Shoot-Out 1 takes place on Saturday, January 10th and caters for Intermediate, Masters A and stronger Junior A players.

Shoot-Out 2 is on Sunday, January 11th and is for Junior B and Masters B players and less strong Junior A players.

Minor players and seniors who are not in the top 10 in the national rankings are also welcome to enter their relevant day.

The entry grading guidelines are not rigid; stronger Junior A/Masters players may wish to enter the Intermediate event while others in those grades may prefer to enter the Junior event. The organising committee has the final say on entries.

The innovative format is as follows:

All players must be in attendance for the draw at 9.30am. The top 16 are seeded by the tournament committee and, starting with the 16th seed, each seeded players draws their opponent out of the hat blindly.

Matches serve off at 10am sharp and run all day. Games are played on a 20-minute timed format; a coin is placed in the meter and when the lights go out, it’s game over!

The finalists will have to play five 20-minute matches. First round losers enter the B grade so all players are guaranteed at least two games and the majority will get three or more.

Previous winners of the Shoot-Out were Cork’s Brendan Fleming, Wexford men Daniel Kavanagh and Galen Riordan and Kilkenny's Billy Drennan, Wicklow's Jerome Willoughby and Meath’s Gary McConnell.

The inaugural Shoot-Out 2 was won by David Stanners from Wexford and last year the winner was Sean Moughan from Galway.

Entry costs €30 and is strictly non-refundable (you will still receive your jersey).

All entrants will receive a special tournament jersey (value €25) and there will be prizes for winners in all grades (including the dropdown on Saturday and Sunday).

Players are advised to enter early.

In previous years there have been quite a few late withdrawals so this year we are opening it up to 40 players, with eight on the standby list.
