McElduff hoping to shake up the 40x20 championships

Recently crowned Irish Senior All-Ireland Wallball champion for a third time, Conor McElduff has revealed he intends to play 40x20 championship handball again.

McElduff focused on wallball for the most part in recent years although he did play softball in 2022 and picked up the prestigious All-Ireland Junior Singles crown, landing the famous Dunlop Shield in emphatic fashion.

He played in the Mick Kerr tournament last year, performing very well against the best in the country, and hopes to return to 4-wall action. Prior to that, though, he has a number of major wallball events in his sights.

McElduff unfortunately missed out on the recent Frontball event in Biarritz but had recovered from injury in time to line out on Saturday in the wallball event in Roscommon, where he defeated London’s Colm Grace in the semi-final and Tipperary’s James Prentice in the decider.

“My neck was still quite tight but has healed very well thankfully, shouldn’t be an issue heading into 2023. It was very disappointing missing out on Biarritz as it looked like an amazing tournament and spectacle.

“I’m happy enough with my performance, I haven’t been able to train as much over the last number of weeks which led to some uncharacteristic misses but was still able to get the job done.

“Next up is the big Europe Elite Stop being held in Croke Park December 10/11, I’m really excited about this as it’s the first time Ireland have ever hosted an event and this promises to be the best one yet!

“After that I plan on giving the 40x20 championship a rattle as I haven’t played 40x20 championship since winning the Ulster Senior back in 2019.”

McElduff was one of a number of players sporting the Kill Shot gloves on Saturday, including Grace, Masters finalist David Hope and Golden Masters finalist Noel Murphy among others.

The Tyrone star tried out the new Wallball glove, which is soon to hit the market, and was very impressed.

“The new Pro Kill Shot gloves were amazing, perfect glove for the One Wall code and I would recommend them to everyone playing!” he said.

The Pro Kill Shot wallball gloves will be available to pre-order later this week.
